Tomahawk 2006 - Day by Day!

  • Thursday... What a gorgeous day!! I took tons of brief mpeg movies of the races which should have sound with them.
The arena is set up with all the boats and motors that are competing for various things (forgot to pick up a list...I'll do it tomorrow).
I took photos, which won't be up tonight I bet, of all the boats in there...plus anything sitting around outside today. My husband bought me a little Alumacraft as a birthday present...its name is Little Putt.

Look for the movies on the web site next week early sometime.
I have some stills up for today though...

  • Wednesday. THE STILL PHOTOS ARE UP :-)..rain in the morning, then clearing, sort of, around noon...then blue sky. Folks coming in slower than if it was a sunny day...thinking on the runway is tomorrow might be more active than usual. Wednesday still photos should be done uploading tonight...(Thursday night...sigh.) Slow uploads will keep movies from being posted until I get home.

  • Tuesday afternoon...overcast and a thunderstorm but not bad really.... a few people here already.

The airstrip looks so empty today...but wait until tomorrow! The geese grazing near the water all day are in for a BIG surprize as that is where the hydroplane racers gather.
The Jack Russel terrier's name is Keeper....he is a good mouser and loves riding his Harley.
Apropos of nothing, found this cool History of Ice Boat Racing in Wisconsin site a moment ago.

July 27 - an updater from meet organizers received and posted

The swap meet will be set up on the old air strip and the display area for motors and boats will be in the arena. Sara Park is located right on the water and there is a boat landing and docks on the waterfront. We have a cruise and a boat parade followed by a hot dog cookout for participants on Thurs. evening. We have open running on the water all 4 days. We also run 5 other on-water events throughout the meet. There is camping on the grounds ($15 a night - revised). There are no hook-ups but the arena has washrooms and showers................CONTACT: Bob Dalle Ave - (715) 356-5649
